Shelton Herr Smith, P.C. is a Texas Certified Public Accounting Firm. We are a growing local-market West Texas Firm serving business owners and individuals. Our firm was founded over 75 years ago, with a vision to be entrepreneurial and to serve clients that share that same vision. We maintain that vision today, with not just knowledge, but know-how.

Our History
Our firm roots go back to 1940 when Urban Childers began a sole proprietor CPA firm in Odessa, Texas. Bill Turner joined Mr. Childers in 1962 and the name was changed to Childers and Turner, CPA’s. The firm operated under that name until Mr. Childers’ retirement in 1977. In 1978, Burt Ferguson became a partner with Mr. Turner and the firm operated as Turner Ferguson & Company CPA’s through 1997. Doug Shelton became a partner in 1982 followed by Nigel Cowan in 1988. Mr. Turner retired in 1998 and at that time Liz Sager was admitted as a shareholder and the name was changed to Turner Ferguson Cowan Shelton & Sager, P.C. Amanda Herr was admitted as a shareholder in 2011. Mr. Cowan retired in 2015 followed by Mr. Ferguson and Mrs. Sager in 2016. In 2017 Jennifer Smith was admitted as a shareholder, the name was changed to Shelton Herr Smith, P.C. and the office was relocated to its current address.
